Having kicked off the year with “Better Love”, Eliza Rose returns with the video for “Take You There”, a track she considers to be the other side of the same coin.
The video, directed by Jeanie Crystal, takes us on a psychedelic trip that mixes live-action and claymation (the latter courtesy of Nofac3). Along this mind-expanding ride, we’re also introduced to a host of Eliza’s alter egos, including, we’re told, Elijah the Rude Boy, Spangeld Sistren, Doo Wop Baddie, and Heighway Heist Queen. It is, in every sense, a trip.
“‘Better Love’ was a very slick video, which I loved and suited the track perfectly,” says Eliza Rose. “But with ‘Take You There’, I wanted to go back to a more underground, DIY feel that ‘B.O.T.A’ had. ‘Take You There’ and ‘Better Love’ always come together as a pair—a bit like two sides of a coin—showing how that in underground dance music, you can have both these slick, summery cute moments, as well as these more mad, chaotic ones. It’s important to me, as an artist, to touch both sides.”
