Chlöe’s vocal abilities are as bewitching as her looks, a point she proves in the music video for “Have Mercy,” where she leaves them in a trance before turning them to stone. Directed by Karena Evans, the visual shift from day to night in the video also parallels the tone change in the second have of the track. The Murda Beatz-produced bass grows with Chlöe’s energized choreography, culminating into an explosive final act.

“Have Mercy” is the debut single for five-time Grammy-nominated producer/singer/songwriter, who will be performing at the MTV VMAs this Sunday, Sept. 12. Before dropping this single, the singer has been delivering inspired covers of songs from different genres. First, she handled a cover of Cardi B’s song “Be Careful,” then Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain,” and finally closed out the mini-series by tackling Drake’s Take Care classic “Marvin’s Room.”

“You told me that there’s someone else,” Chlöe croons in her version of the timeless Drake song. “You messing with my confidence. How you make me feel unwanted? I’m really trying not to hold a grudge. But you didn’t send me flowers for my birthday and now I’m hurting in the worst way.”

While it feels like news of a solo album is on the horizon, watch the music video for Chlöe’s new song “Have Mercy” up top.
