Birdman has reignited his rap brand and collective Rich Gang to deliver the new single and video “Blue Emerald” featuring Young Thug and a cameo appearance from Chris Brown.

Directed by Michelle Parker, the visual goes from shots of Thugger and Birdman driving foreign vehicles through underground tunnels to them joined by Brown dancing in an all-white room. Thug’s verse embodies the energy Birdman is able to bring out of him, which the rap OG alluded to when talking about putting the song together.

“This is what y’all have been waiting for,” Birdman said. “Me and Thugger are back together, and ‘Blue Emerald’ is just the beginning. This is the next era of Rich Gang. It starts now.”

Rich Gang as a collective has delivered several notable moments in hip-hop. 2013’s self-titled album included the chart-topping “Tap Out” with Lil Wayne, Birdman, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, and Future. Rich Gang was also responsible for one of Young Thug’s career-defining songs, “Lifestyle,” which helped catapult the Atlanta rapper to mainstream fame. Rich Gang Tha Tour Part 1 is a classic mixtape, in general, and was influential in not only Thugger’s career but Rich Homie Quan’s as well.

Now several years later, Rich Gang is staging a comeback with Birdman at the helm. “Blue Emerald” is the lead single off the collective's upcoming album, Rich Gang 2, which has yet to receive a release date.
