Here's What Happens When People Watch Kanye West's "Only One" Video With Their Moms

We had Complex staffers sit with their moms to listen to "Only One." Yes, there were tears.

The last time Kanye West dropped an album, his first single (if you can even call it that) was "New Slaves"—a song that served as an abrasive takedown on racism and a giant middle finger to corporate America. It wasn't exactly a song you'd want to play for your kids or your parents. But this time, the first single to his upcoming album is "Only One"—a sweet, gentle lullaby written about his daughter North from the perspective of his late mother, Dr. Donda West. In other words, it's the exact kinda song you'd play for your kids or your parents.

So, naturally, we had the bright idea of getting a bunch of Complex staffers to watch the music video for "Only One" with their moms. The results are predictably sappy but touching nonetheless. Though the best part is one of the mothers being surprised Kanye could actually be sensitive. Check out the video but whatever you do, be sure to tell your mother you love her today.
