Last year, Mac Miller and Pharrell both talked up Pink Slime, a collaborative EP between the two that was built out of their mutual love for music and likewise respect for each other. They would release a few songs as a preview from the project, including "Glow" and "Onaroll," but Pink Slime was eventually put on hold due to schedule conflicts.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Miller says the project is not only back on, but it will also be released in 2014. "We actually just talked a couple days ago," he said. "I'm going to go see him [in Miami] and we're going to finish it and put it out." Their upcoming connection in the studio follows banner years in 2013 for both artists. Mac Miller released his critically-acclaimed sophomore album Watching Movies with the Sound Off, while Pharrell was one of the year's top producers. His work has subsequently earned him seven nominations for the 2014 Grammy Awards, including Producer of the Year.
In the interview, Miller also expressed his excitement about traveling to South Beach to record, which is a nice scenic change to Los Angeles. "[In L.A.] I'm in this dungeon, my little cave that's this weird-ass looking place that I just live in," he said. "And then to go to Miami, it's just so nice to see natural light and a pool and happy things. It's good."
