Another day, another change in details surrounding the upcoming posthumous Aaliyah album. Just days after Blackground Records, a label run by Aaliyah's uncle, confirmed that Drake and Noah "40" Shebib will be executive producing the new Aaliyah project, and that Timbaland and Missy Elliott were definitely both on board to lend their talents to the production, Missy Elliott's longtime manager Mona Scott-Young released a statement saying that Missy and Timbaland do not have plans to be involved at this time, and they have not been contacted about it either.
Scott-Young's statement reads, "Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate." It continues, "We've seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated."
Missy herself adds, "Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us everyday, like so many of the people who love her. She will always live in our hearts. We have nothing but love and respect for her memory and for her loved ones left behind still grieving her loss. They are always in our prayers."
The first official release from the new Aaliyah album, "Enough Said" featuring Drake, is out now.
