Kwame is About His Community in the First Episode of Spotify’s “Starting Point”

The Sydney rapper takes us through the bars and beats of his breakout banger “Wow”

Starting Point is a Spotify series featuring four Australian hip-hop artists, from the flagship A1 Hip-Hop playlist; following them to the places they feel most creative to hear the stories behind their music.

Kwame is at the forefront of Sydney’s rising stars; he made a splash last year with his Endless Conversations. EP, where he flexed his production chops and rap dexterity over fiery, bass-heavy bangers like ‘WHO DAT’, and slow jams like ‘COFFEE’.

Striking a chord with critics and fans alike, Endless Conversations. helped Kwame amass over 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and led to support slots for Skepta and RL Grime.

In the first installment of Starting Point, we join Kwame in his home studio where he recorded breakout single ‘WOW’. He explains the vibe of his studio and the mindset he was in throughout the song’s creation, as well as what he aims to do with the humble abode; foreshadowing a communal utopia for Australian rappers.

This may be where it started, but it alludes to a much bigger future.
