Ravyn Lenae has marked her return with her new single “Skin Tight” with Steve Lacy.

In addition to the song, the Chicago singer has also shared an animated video directed by Zongbo Jiang, a London-based visual artist In the visual, we see a digital rendition of Lenae luxuriating in pink clouds and dancing. “Hold me while you can,” she sings as Lacy offers his own melody.

“I wanted to snap people into my world through the sonics, so they can feel how I’ve felt over the past couple of years,” Lenae said in a statement. “It has those hypnotic elements, but it’s very simple, familiar, and fresh. Thematically, it’s about not being in a relationship with somebody, but still having those physical and mental ties. It speaks to sharing kinetic energy with another person, even if time has passed and you aren’t together anymore.”

The last time we heard from Lenae was her 2020 collaboration “Today” with Luke Titus and her appearance on the soundtrack for Insecure Season 4. Her new album is slated to arrive later this year.
