Ludacris and his wife Eudoxie welcomed their daughter, Chance Oyali Bridges in early August—but the rapper says he only narrowly missed his baby girl’s birth.

He was in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shooting a new movie with Queen Latifah, when he said his wife began blowing up his phone. “My wife called me,” Luda told Ellen DeGeneres. “I’m on set, I’m shooting a scene and I look at my phone and I’m getting all these missed calls. It’s towards the end of the day, and she’s like, ‘You need to come to Atlanta.’ I’m like, ‘Baby, I’m shooting a movie. What are you talking about?’ She said, ‘The contractions started. [The] doctor says you need to get here.’”

The rapper described how he started looking for flights on commercial airlines but there was nothing available, adding that he does have his own plane but his pilot was in Atlanta.

“So I have to call my pilot. I’m like, ‘Listen, you need to leave Atlanta and come straight to New Mexico right now, soon as you can’. … He literally comes and gets me. I fly to Atlanta—I get there like an hour before her water breaks and I’m there for the whole delivery.”

In addition to Chance, Ludacris and Eudoxie share 6-year-old Cadence. The actor also has a 7-year-old daughter and 20-year-old daughter from past relationships, Peoplereports. “The Movie ‘Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls’ starring Chris Bridges coming soon,” Luda joked in an Instagram post, when sharing photos of Eudoxie and Chance.
