Young Thug Arrested on Drug Charges

The 27-year-old rapper was taken into custody Tuesday on drug charges stemming from a 2017 arrest. He is now being held at DeKalb County Jail in Decatur, Georgia.

Young Thug has found himself back behind bars.

As pointed out by XXL magazine, the Atlanta rapper was arrested in Georgia on Tuesday afternoon on a number of drug possession-related charges. The news arrives shortly after authorities issued a warrant for Thugger’s arrest on eight felonies. The charges stem from a 2017 incident in Brookhaven, Georgia, where Thug was taken into custody for possession and intent to distribute meth, hydrocodone, and marijuana. Other charges included possession of codeine, amphetamine, Alprazolam, and a firearm.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office website, Thug—real name Jeffery Lamar Williams—was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. local time for violating the state’s controlled substance act.

“I will do everything that is lawful and ethical to clear Mr. Williams of this false allegation,” his attorney, Brian Steel, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution following Thug’s 2017 arrest.

The rapper’s bond has not been set.

Thugger’s team did not immediately respond to request for comment; however, his go-to music engineer Alex Tumay posted the following tweet Tuesday night:

Love ya @youngthug 💚
