In case you didn't know, Drake is incredibly popular.
As we approach the end of 2018, Spotify has unveiled its annual "Wrapped" figures—a year in review that breaks down the most-streamed content on its site. And Drizzy completely dominated.
The Toronto artist was not only the top streamed artist for 2018—with 8.2 billion streams—he has also become Spotify’s most-streamed artist of all time. Drake's 25-track double album, Scorpion, provided a big boost, as it was also the platform's most popular album of the year. And as for Spotify's most-streamed song of 2018? Drake secured that achievement, too, with the Scorpion hit single "God's Plan."
As far as top global artists, Drake is followed by Post Malone, XXXTentacion, J Balvin, and Ed Sheeran, who led the list in 2017 with his No. 1 album ÷ (pronounced divide). Though the top five was occupied by only male acts, women also racked in some impressive numbers. The most-streamed female artist around the world was Ariana Grande, who received a huge boos with her chart-topping Sweetener album as well as her standalone single "Thank U, Next," which has garnered over 220 million streams since its release last month.
Other highlights include Cardi B, who led the most-streamed female artists within the U.S.; Khalid who was among the top five U.S. artists; and Juice WRLD, who secured a place on the top U.S. songs with "Lucid Dreams."
