Smokepurpp Reveals He's Going to Change His Rap Name to Purpp

The Florida rapper revealed his plans for a name change during the Season 2 premiere of 'Open Late With Peter Rosenberg.'

Smokepurpp will join the growing list of rappers who’ve changed their stage names.

During the Season 2 premiere of Open Late, the 21-year-old artist revealed he plans to shorten his rap moniker to simply “Purpp.”

“I’m actually gonna change it to just ‘Purpp’ soon. I wanna drop the ‘Smoke’ out of my name,” he told Open Late host Peter Rosenberg. “People just called me ‘Smokepurpp’ or ‘Lil Purpp,' but there's too many lil's, so I kind of just want to be 'Purpp.'”

The rapper’s good friend and collaborator Lil Pump has also teased a potential name change. The “Gucci Gang” artist hit up Instagram in April, claiming he would now go by “Jet Ski.”

“My new name is Jet Ski, OK? Don't call me Lil Pump, call me Jet Ski,” he said in a video.
