When Cardi B announced she was expecting her first child, many began questioning how the pregnancy would affect her career. Yes, she had already secured a hit single ("Bodak Yellow") and notable collaborations at the time, but some fans worried motherhood would stall her rise in the game. The Bronx rapper actually addressed this very topic in an unreleased track intended for her debut album, Invasion of Privacy.

Cardi shared a snippet of the song via Instagram on Wednesday, in celebration of her daughter's first birthday. The post included videos and photos of Kulture, along with the record's backstory.

"[...] I made this song one day before I turned in my album and Eve gave me the green light for the beat I was so grateful! She a real one!" Cardi wrote. "It didn’t make it on time tho cause as you can hear I was maaa stuffy with a terrible cold. I couldn’t get it right no matter how many times I spit it 😩Even when we try to mix it u still sound stuffy. I love my baby she changed my life."

The song, which samples Eve's "Love Is Blind," finds Cardi reflecting on her pregnancy and the critics who were convinced her career would take a hit.

"I ain't even meet you and I love you to death/Performed live on TV, I hid you under my dress/We did the ruffles, the fur coats, a hundred different ways/But seems like you getting larger every day," she rapped. "[...] Complete strangers talkin' 'bout my baby/Coming from people that never used to check for me/They brought opinions, but nothing off the registry/'Cardi, you so stupid, you gon' ruin your career'/I know I won't, but if I did, I wouldn’t care."

It's unclear if the song will get an official release. But here's hoping.
