YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been found not guilty in the federal gun case that resulted in his dramatic arrest in Los Angeles last year.
Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon, who has been covering the case, confirmed the not guilty verdict in a tweet on Friday.
“I feel great,” YoungBoy told the magazine.
YoungBoy was facing the possibility of multiple years behind bars. The case is connected to his FBI arrest last year, which was prompted by a federal warrant connected to his September 2020 arrest in Baton Rouge on gun possession charges. When he was apprehended, authorities recovered a FN FNX .45 caliber pistol from the floor of his vehicle. The 22-year-old rapper’s attorneys argued that there was insufficient DNA or fingerprint evidence to connect him to the weapon.
Prosecutors, however, alleged that NBA YoungBoy showed he was guilty when he fled authorities during his 2021 detainment. His legal team responded by claiming he “panicked” after he was surrounded during the high-profile arrest. His lead defense lawyer James Manasseh also said his client was unaware the gun was in the car, per Rolling Stone. U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner blocked the prosecution’s attempt to use his lyrics as evidence in the case.
YoungBoy Never Broke Again still has a pending gun case in Louisiana in connection with his 2020 arrest. He has pleaded not guilty.
