After his recent comments about YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Kanye West, rapper Soulja Boy cleared the air on his issues in a new interview with DJ Akademiks.

Soulja Boy recently sparked reactions on Twitter after he unleashed a string of tweets directed at other rappers. “YB fans gay af,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet, which drew both criticism from YoungBoy’s fans and those who rightfully called him out for using “gay” in a derogatory fashion. Speaking with Akademiks on his Off the Record podcast, Soulja made it clear that his issue is with the fans not YoungBoy himself.

“I don’t want n***as to think I don’t fuck with YoungBoy,” said Soulja. “I fuck with YoungBoy, it’s just he’s got some crazy ass fans. You gotta remember, bruh, the internet and the streets are two different things. I’m not talking about NBA YoungBoy fans in general, like, if you a n***a in a trap and you like NBA YoungBoy you a fan of him, I’m not talking about y’all.” The rapper said he was specifically addressing the trolls.

He reiterated that he’s good with YoungBoy and still a fan, but the constant comments in his replies by the rapper’s fans are what prompted him to say what he did. “I’m like, bro, y’all gotta chill,” he said, adding that he “ignored” it for a while. “After the third month, I was like… ‘YB need to make better music!’”

When he trolled them back, he said they stopped. “I had to dissect that shit, I didn’t know what was going on!”

As for his issues with Kanye West, the rapper recently said ‘Ye cut his verse from the finished version of Donda. In response, he insulted Yeezy numerous times, at one point tweeting, “Hmm fuck that n***a.” When Akademiks suggested that he should apologize to Kanye, though, he said he doesn’t owe him any sort of apology.

“I ain’t apologizing for shit,” he said. “I don’t really know how to feel.” He retold the story of how Soulja got in the studio for the Donda sessions, explaining that ‘Ye reached out and even showed Akademiks the texts between them. “Didn’t he make it look like I was gonna be on there, though!” he said, noting how Kanye gassed him up in the text messages.

He said that he still likes Kanye, but the experience wasn’t exactly a positive one for him and implied he felt led-on. “That’s all I wanted was an explanation,” he continued. “I feel like I got played. … But it’s all love, with time passing and shit like that it ain’t like I’m on some, ‘I hate this n***a Kanye blah blah.’ I just had to do my little, I ain’t even call it trolling bruh ‘cause it was real. I just had to speak my mind, and let a n***a know don’t be doing no shit like that, bruh.”
