Brooklyn-based collective Phony Ppl have shared their new album Euphonyus.

With a smooth, bouncy sound that takes influences from R&B, disco, and even elements of progressive rock, Euphonyus is an expansive effort that truly showcases what the band is capable of. The project has been a long time coming, and features the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted single “Fkn Around.” Other guest features include Leon Thomas III, the Soul Rebels, and JoJo.

In addition to “Fkn Around,” the record also has the previously released single “Dialtone.” In a statement provided to Brooklyn Vegan upon that release earlier this month, Phony Ppl described “Dialtone” as two different songs at the same time. “One song (the cause) is about a guy realizing space is only expanding between him and his lover,” the band shared. “The other song (the effect) is about a relationship that only exists in the mind of said guy. Either way, there’s something wrong! Did they have something special, then drift apart? Or is it all in his head? … Maybe its all been in his head since they drifted. Either way, sing to the cause, whistle to the effect and dance to both at once.”

Released via 300 Entertainment, Euphonyus is the group’s first album since 2018’s mō’zā-ik, their major label debut. The band is set to perform a pair of headlining shows at New York City’s S.O.B.’s on Dec. 28 and 29 to celebrate the release of the record.
