Nav has revealed why he decided against including a collaboration with Drake on his newly released album, Demons Protected by Angels.

In an interview on the Full Send Podcast, the rapper said they had a song ready to go but it just wasn’t a right fit for the already star-studded project. “Drake’s an amazing person, we hang out all the time in Toronto. We did a song, I feel like we could’ve done a better song and the time frame was just… not good,” he explained at the 33:30 point of the interview. “It didn’t work out, and you know he’s such a big artist that I didn’t want to put the song on the album and have it take away from anything else on the album. You know what I mean? Like, take away life from all the other moments.”

Asked if he was “purposely” not putting the unreleased collaboration on the record, he replied, “Sort of, yeah.” He explained that the two of them agreed they could’ve made a better song, and they felt as though it would take away from the project if the song with Drake wasn’t a winner.

When he informed Drizzy that it wasn’t going to make the record, the OVO Sound founder was fine with the decision and suggested they should link up in the studio again in the future. “We just couldn’t find a time, he was busy doing stuff, I was busy I had to fly to do some shows,” he added. “There’s been times that I did songs with people and they didn’t put me on their album, I just respect their vision.” Asked if he’s okay with that happening, he replied, “Of course, whatever you want to do!”

While Drake didn’t show up on Demons Protected by Angels, the album still features a number of heavy-hitters. Among the extensive list of guests on the project is Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, Future, Gunna, Bryson Tiller, and Lil Baby.
