In his verse on Fivio Foreign’s new song “City of Gods,” Kanye West has seemingly set his sights on Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend Pete Davidson.
Arriving not long after the Saturday Night Live cast member publicly referred to the Kardashian as his “girlfriend” for the first time, Kanye has made a direct reference to both SNL and his divorce on “City of Gods.” Ye makes countless references on the track, from Drizzy to the Chicago Bulls.
“After I buy the Chicago Bulls, I’ma go and link with Mike/And if I let ’em have my wife, n***as should thank me,” he raps early on, before eventually turning his attention to SNL. “This afternoon, a hundred goons pullin’ up to SNL/When I pull up, it’s dead on arrival,” he raps. “They act like they love you, they don’t even like you/They throw a party, won’t even invite you.”
It’s not exactly clear if Pete Davidson or SNL as a whole is the target on “City of Gods.” Ye notably turned up to New York City alongside many masked individuals in outfits similar to his Donda rollout aesthetic in November 2021, but he could also be expressing his frustration at SNL in general. During his Drink Champs interview, he accused the writers of forcing guest host Kim K to joke about their divorce.
Yeezy also directly dissed Davidson on his collaboration with the Game, “Eazy,” rapping, “God saved me from that crash/Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”
A source close to the SNL cast member told TMZ Davidson is not bothered by Ye’s comments. “Pete is focusing on his relationship with Kim and making sure she feels supported, the rest is just noise,” the source said. Kanye is currently in a relationship with Uncut Gems actor Julia Fox.
In a post on Instagram last week, Kim criticized West for continuing to make their divorce a public matter. “Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all," she wrote.
