Following the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday, Kodak Black slammed the annual show for awarding Song of the Year to Latto’s “Big Energy.”

During an Instagram Live stream on Wednesday, Kodak appeared to refer to Latto as "frappuccino, cappuccino," and said she only won the award because she’s a woman. "Why y’all ain’t make my shit tie with cappuccino? But y’all made sure Caresha Please be a tie with Drink Champs. … This whole shit looked like a damn plot," he said. "Then I look at the 'gram like what shawty blocked me for? They probably hollering at BET, like don't give him that shit. I told weeks ago. Watch they finna play with me and give it to frappuccino."

During the same stream, he also claimed that he slept with Yung Miami of City Girls. He referred to the rapper as “my cheeks before Diddy,” whom she is currently dating.

Latto appeared to catch wind of what Kodak said, and jokingly responded with a quick sub. “What kinda frappuccino I look like I taste like???” she tweeted.

Seemingly prompted by Latto’s tweet, Kodak later took to Twitter to further share his thoughts on the award.

"The Woman Empowerment Shit Kool ! Don’t Take Nun From Nobody But You Still Gotta Work For It !" tweeted Kodak on Wednesday. "Don’t Jus Simply Give It To Somebody Kuz They A Woman !!!!! If That’s The Case Y’all Shoulda Gave Song Of The Year To Glorilla Not That Hating Ass Mutt."

He then questioned why Drake or Future didn’t win the award. "Not Drake ! Not Future ! But Lache ???? Hell Nawl !!!! @Connieorlando Needs To B Fired !!!” he wrote, calling out Connie Orlando, BET’s SVP of Music, News, and Specials. “Dat Stupid Ass Song Ain’t Move Nobody ! Forget About Me At This Point ! AT LEAST ‘Fuck N***a Free’ Was A Anthem ! Tf You Think ‘SONG OF THE YEAR’ Mean ????”

He then called on his followers to boycott Orlando and BET. “Y’all Lame Af & Y’all Not Really For The People Fr ! BET WATERED DOWN !!!"

Kodak’s “Super Gremlin” was nominated for Song of the Year alongside tracks from Drake, Future, Cardi B, Hitkidd and GloRilla, and Jack Harlow. He also performed during the awards show, where he paid tribute to the late PnB Rock.

Earlier this year, Latto said an unnamed male rapper made it difficult to clear their feature on the record because she wouldn’t respond to a DM. Speculation among fans pointed the finger at Kodak, but he said that she was not talking about him.
