Having carved out an impressive reputation as hit-maker (credits include tracks for Zara Larsson, Astrid S, and NEIKED's massive hit "Sexual"), Swedish singer-songwriter Elina is now putting herself front and centre with her new single "Blue".
A little more downtempo than her previous credits might have you expect, "Blue" is a mellow, stripped-back piece that sets her delicate vocals against an acoustic guitar as she tells her tale of finding closure in the wake of a break-up. It's clear she's been honing her penmanship for years now because those years of experience have clearly given her a profound understanding of herself and the kind of emotional intelligence we can all aspire to.
Explaining her thoughts behind the track, Elina explained, "There's a certain bittersweetness when you realise you've actually moved on from something. You've gone through all the stages, the pain, the denial and then finally acceptance. I've been thinking a lot about this lately, how there's like an awakening when you don't hurt anymore and the brighter memories start to outshine the sad ones. You're not as emotionally attached as before. 'Blue', to me, is about that. About letting the past be a part of you, and appreciate where it has taken you and how it has shaped you."
