KVKA sounds a little like if DMX finally ate a throat lozenge. The Zambian-born rapper has a confident, full-throated delivery, and (‘cause he’s greedy) strong sung vocals too (fans of Tory Lanez’s “Cruel Intentions” tape should check out KVKA’s “Cupid Baby”). With streaming hit “WHO YOU” under his belt, the 23-year-old rapper recently moved to Melbourne to refocus on music, signing with Australian independent Mirage Records. His new single “No Lackin” is an assertion of exactly how he’s approaching 2020.

Produced by Deer and Mirage co-founder Hancoq, “No Lackin'' is a neat way to ring in KVKA’s new chapter: it’s his first single with Mirage, but he’s brought along his Kiwi day-one Leniac to trade bars. KVKA nods at his journey to Australia with “hopped off the porch/hopped on the plane”(and no, didn’t hop outta the Porsche—it’s porch, he’s quick to clarify). It’s a fun listen, and the camcorder music video makes clear KVKA and Leniac had even more fun rapping it. Co-producer Hancoq makes a friendly cameo in the clip too.

Check out the brand-new "No Lackin" video above, and keep an eye out for more KVKA, who says this is only “the warm-up before the match.”
