The Weeknd debuted a new look on Monday night at the Toronto Film Festival—and you almost couldn’t tell it was him. The Toronto native was there for the premiere of Adam Sandler’s film Uncut Gems, where Abel makes his feature film debut.
Many have attributed the transformation to the Weeknd's breakup with Bella Hadid, whom he split with last month. This is his first major red carpet appearance since they parted ways, according to E! News. In addition to a fresh haircut and mustache, Abel also donned a navy blue suit.
Later that night, the Weeknd also sang happy birthday to Sandler.
In early August, news surfaced that Abel and Hadid had split. According to E! News, “distance” played a factor in the Grammy-winning singer and his supermodel girlfriend calling it quits.
This is the second time Hadid and the Weeknd have allegedly split. The two first started dating in 2015 before breaking up a year later. In 2018, E! confirmed Hadid and the Weeknd had rekindled their romance.
