Building on the success of July's "Castles", alt-pop and R&B singer-songwriter Chikaya is back with her second single of the year, "Evolve". Continuing the vein of space-aged R&B that she's been exploring for the past couple of years, "Evolve" sees Chikaya lay her silky vocals over a cosmic grime melody mixed into a smooth R&B framework. Having won support from the likes of Tricky and CASisDEAD, as well working with names like Lorenzo BITW, 2019's been a big year for Chikaya and tracks like "Evolve" are setting her up for an even bigger 2020.

Speaking with Complex via email, Chikaya says: "I wanted to write a song about growing. Something positive. It's about making strides in life on a personal level, mentally and creatively. I feel now that at this time in life I'm surrounded by people who encourage that and carry that same view. It feels like a special time where we're striving to be the most honest versions of ourselves and that isn't something that can always happen overnight which is why I wanted to write a song that, when I'm singing it, I'm reminded that everything is evolving, it's all a process."
