Cardi B says she's well aware of the sexual misconduct plaguing the entertainment industry—because she's experienced it first-hand.
In the upcoming episode of Untold Stories of Hip Hop, Cardi recalled the time she was sexually harassed during a magazine photo shoot. The 26-year-old rapper didn't identify the perpetrator or the publication, but suggested the misconduct occurred at the beginning of her career.
"I will never forget how I went to shoot for this magazine and the photographer, he was trying to get close to me like, 'Yeah, you want to get in this magazine?' Then he pulled his dick out," she told host Angie Martinez. "I was so fucking mad, and it's just like, 'This is crazy.'"
Cardi said she immediately called out the photographer and bailed on the shoot.
"And you know what’s so crazy? I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like, 'So? And?'" she told Martinez. "When I see the Me Too movement—there's girls from the hood I know that went through the same type of treatment, like [they] make you feel like you got to do a certain type of thing for the most bullshit. It happens, really, every day."
Cardi previously spoke on sexual misconduct, and her experiences, during an interview with Cosmopolitan back in 2018. "A lot of video vixens have spoke about this and nobody gives a fuck," she said. "When I was trying to be a vixen, people were like, ‘You want to be on the cover of this magazine?’ Then they pull their dicks out. I bet if one of these women stands up and talks about it, people are going to say, ‘So what? You’re a ho. It don’t matter.’"
Martinez went on to ask if Cardi still experiences sexual misconduct at this stage of her career.
"Oh hell no. I'll put you on blast on my Instagram," she said. " I wish a n***a would."
