UPDATED 7/10, 10 a.m. ET: After the police sketch of the wanted man in South Carolina went viral for its similarity to DMX, TMZ spoke with the rapper to get his thoughts. "Looks exactly like me," DMX laughed when the subject was brought up.

"I think they fucked around and took a picture of me ... and added hair to it," he continued. "They know I'm on parole man! That's definitely a picture of me, I mean think about it, you never seen the police capture that much detail, you know? Like, c'mon. Police sketches be like outline shit, it'll be real quick. That's a fucking drawing right there, that ain't no sketch."

While authorities have stressed DMX definitely isn't the suspect, he still believes it's way too similar just to be a coincidence, but he's taking it in jest regardless.

When Columbia, South Carolina authorities released their sketch of the suspect in an attempted murder case, the picture looked a lot like the rapper DMX.

The reason for this is simple. According to South Carolina Law Enforcement Division spokesperson Thom Berry, a witness claimed the assailant looked just like the Grammy-nominated rapper.

"The witness said to us, ‘The guy looks a lot like DMX,’" Berry said before authorities assured the media that Dark Man X is not the actual suspect.

Following the direction of the witness, a "very well trained and respected" forensic artist used one of DMX's portraits to create the alleged suspect. Although the similarities between the two are undeniable, there are a few distinct differences. Since his rise to prominence in the late 90s, DMX has maintained a clean-shaven look. The suspect on the other hand, has a head full of hair and a beard.

"We always let the witness dictate the process and how everything unfolds," Berry explained. "We make sure the witness sees everything we do and is comfortable with whatever rendering that we make."

The crime in question is a shooting that took place earlier this month. According to reports, police found a 27-year-old male victim outside of an apartment complex with injuries to his lower body. Authorities are now searching for a man in his 30s that looks like Earl Simmons but isn't Earl Simmons.
