The memorial service highlighted Nipsey's influence on not only the L.A. community but the music industry as a whole. Artists like Stevie Wonder, Anthony Hamilton, and Jhené Aiko performed tributes for the Grammy-nominated artist, while celebrities such as Beyoncé, JAY-Z, YG, DJ Mustard, Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, LeBron James, and Ava DuVernay attended to pay their respects.
"I know everyone is hurting but I'd like to say something to my city of Los Angeles," Nipsey's longtime girlfriend, Lauren London, said during a memorial speech. "We know what Nip did to us, we lost an incredible soul. We lost someone very rare to us and we lost a real one. We won't ever be the same [...] To Ermias, the love of my life, you know what it is. Grief is the final act of love. My heart hears you. I feel you everywhere. I'm so grateful that I had you."
Nipsey's mom Angelique, his brother Samiel, as well as friend and business partner Karen Civil also spoke during the ceremony.
