An ex-girlfriend of R. Kelly claims the singer erupted into a jealous rage that resulted in domestic violence.

In 2017, while backstage at one of Kelly's concerts, the singer accused former lover Halle Calhoun of looking at another man. This led to a physical exchange that ended with Kelly grabbing Calhoun's clothes "around her neck" and violently throwing her into a wall. According to sources, the incident left Calhoun visibly upset as Kelly broke a necklace that was given to her by a close family member. There were allegedly several witnesses, including the "stars" of Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly docu-series Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary.

According to the report, this was not the first time Kelly hit Calhoun. Sources detail that Kelly had been involved with the then-19-year-old for more than a year prior to the backstage attack and in that time, there was an incident where Kelly slapped Calhoun for looking at a group of men. However, those close to Kelly say the singer denies the accusations against him. They claimed that the singer is not violent and if Calhoun's stories were true then "someone would have recorded video and sold it a long time ago."

Forcing people to believe her is not Halle Calhoun's concern. A source says that she has now moved on from the abuse she suffered and feels lucky to have "got out in time."
