Joyner Lucas, in an ill-advised move, offered his support for R. Kelly after the first episode of Surviving R. Kelly aired Thursday night. "I know this has to be one of the hardest patches in your life right now @rkelly," the 30-year-old Lucas said in a since-deleted tweet. "I'm literally watching the entire world condemn you and turn they back on you. I'm not saying you don't deserve it. All I'm saying is please don't hurt yourself or take yourself out. I'd still be sad."

Understandably, plenty of people on Twitter didn't react positively to the tweet. After receiving backlash he followed up with another tweet, attempting to clarify what he meant. "I'm reading the comments on my last post," he said in another now-deleted tweet. "People are upset because I'm telling someone to NOT kill themselves? Wtf? Lol like bro. Y'all cray. I clearly said I'm NOT saying he don't deserve what he's getting. I'm not on his side. But he shouldn't kill himself."

Last March, Lucas told folks who bring up collaborator Chris Brown's abusive past to "shut the fuck up" in an extended monologue.

He hasn't followed up on his R. Kelly comments since deleting the tweets, although with his debut studio album ADHD scheduled to drop sometime soon, it's unlikely he'll return to the topic. Check out some of the responses to his tweets below.

I dnt wish death on anyone, but im not sending R. Kelly no words of encouragement. Joyner Lucas wylin.
