The Weeknd is currently working on his new album. The currently untitled piece will mark his first full-length studio album since his hit 2016 release Starboy, which he followed earlier this year with the My Dear Melancholy, EP.

"I want you guys to be the first to know that I'm working on my new album right now," he told the audience at a recent show. "Chapter VI coming soon. Let's get it."

Weeknd also elaborated a bit further in a quick tweet, teasing that this particular chapter will be one of length:

some chapters are smaller than others. not this next one though...

The show in question was part of the launch of Hxouse, a Toronto-based incubator for creatives from Weeknd and XO creative director La Mar Taylor. "This was always in the making based off my experiences with all of the things that Abel and myself had to overcome, whether it was finding a recording studio, finding other creatives to collaborate with and finding places to facilitate those ideas," Taylor told Forbes of Hxouse back in July.

Back in September, Weeknd celebrated the fifth anniversary of his debut studio album Kiss Land with a limited merch collection. That album notably followed the 10-track minimalist approach of the Trilogy entries, save for a single Drake feature on "Live For." Given the similarly minimalist vibes of maybe/possibly/probably not using Chapter VI as the actual title, might we be seeing a return to this approach?
