You can stop holding your breath. Earl Sweatshirt has released new music.
Thursday, the Chicago-born artist blessed fans with the premiere of "Nowhere2go," a track he began teasing on social media this week. The teasing began earlier this week when Earl posted a mysterious song snippet accompanied by an abstract visual. Though he didn't reveal any details about the record, Earl later announced the cut's official title and fast-approaching release date:

In a message on Twitter, Earl shared his excitement about dropping new material. "This year been the roughest of my life, but here we are," he added."
Speaking with Zane Lowe when sharing the track on Beats 1, Earl further broke down the personal importance of the song. "'Nowhere2go' was I guess kind of a reflection of where I was at at that time," he said. "It's also the first one that's getting released, because I'm not a single-ass n***a, and it's the closest thing that I got to a damn single. I'm just trying to complete thought for myself, because them being unfinished is like, I don't know, it can beget anxiety for me and then vicariously, because my platform involves me with a lot of people, you could subconsciously put that out. I think that putting in a conscious effort towards completing thoughts is highly important right now."
Asked how it feels to transition between different chapters of his career, Earl continued: "Not 'I don't know if I'll make another one,' but it's kind of like, 'Okay, I got to do this,'" he said. "It's more like, 'This has got to get done, and I don't really have an option to put out some shit that I don't fuck with.' I feel like, I run the risk of sounding pretentious, but it's really the polar opposite. I really feel like I have a responsibility, with action, too, because you can talk about completing thoughts or whatever. You can talk about whatever you're doing, but unless you're doing it, then what's being communicated is that it's important to talk about it. Because it's so much now, and there's so much going on, it's like, bro, if a person is not fully passionate about their shit, it's like, bro, why should I be?"
Earl hasn't dropped a full-length project since 2015's I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside; however, he has since reassured fans that new material was on the way. Back in December, Earl tweeted: "Aite '17 was a fucked up year. I hope u learned a lot. I hope u unlearned a lot, there's a lot to navigate out here [...] New chunes 2018, don't think i wasn't at work."
The anticipation increased in late September, when he told fans, "The wait is almost over." About a week after that tweet was deleted, The Alchemist teased Earl's rumored album during an online Q&A session, claiming it was a "masterpiece."
