The beef between Lana Del Rey and Azealia Banks played out over social media Tuesday night. And, of course, Twitter users had jokes.
For those who missed the drama, the self-proclaimed witches got into a heated dispute that included vague threats, ageist remarks, drug abuse allegations, a jab at mental health issues, and a confusing double-negative. It was petty, mildly messy, and—we have to admit—pretty entertaining.
The feud seemingly started more than a week ago, when Lana dragged conservative rapper Kanye West for his pro-Trump statements. Azealia claimed Lana was a hypocrite and was using Ye in her “vapid attempts to seem politically aware.” The “212” artist doubled down on her statements in an Instagram story, in which she wrote: “Now I dare you to challenge me on any of opinions, "witch" .... @lanadelrey. You aren't built for the battle ... I suggest you apologize to Kanye West immediately.”
Lana didn’t back down:
The “pull up anytime” portion apparently triggered Banks, as she has since threatened legal action against the Lust for Life singer. But, again, Lana seemed unfazed.
Though the brouhaha seems to be dying down, Lana and Azealia’s stans are taking to Twitter to support their respective idols. And just when you thought the situation couldn’t get any more amusing …
