Following a super-successful 2017 for Dave, accolades followed and soon after, a well-deserved break. With "Question Time", the rapper's only release in the first half of this year, receiving online backlash from comments made on police stop and search, Fredo collab "Funky Friday" is the first true look at Dave and his development in 2018.
Similar to the AJ Tracey-assisted cut "Thiago Silva", the lack of chorus and structure on "Funky Friday" suggests this one to be a warm-up for more structured efforts to follow. All the same, it's a fun demonstration of both rappers' abilities as they ride a slinking instrumental dotted with crisp kicks and claps.
