Kelis Ordered to Pay Former Nanny $17,000 After Leaving Her Stranded in London

Kelis has to give $17,000 to her former nanny.

Kelis is involved in another legal battle.

The Blast reports the 39-year-old singer must pay $17,623.73 to her former nanny, Soraya Tascon.

In the complaint filed by Tascon to the Labor Commission of the State of California, she claimed Kelis fired her and left her stranded in London. In the paperwork (via The Blast), Tascon demanded $17,000 to cover the plane ticket she had to buy to get home in addition to wages she says she never received.

Tascon was reportedly hired in June 2016 to care for Kelis' then-six-month-old baby and then-seven-year-old son, Knight. Tascon said Kelis agreed to pay her $750 each week to take care of the kids and travel with them during Kelis' tour but she said she never received a check from the "Milkshake" singer. After repeated requests for her payment, the two traveled to London where Kelis reportedly fired her and left her there without a way to get home to Los Angeles. Kelis reportedly argued Tascon regularly didn't return phone calls or texts, but the judgment was ruled out of her favor.

This lawsuit comes after a lengthy battle with her ex-husband, Nas, who she shares her eldest child with. Back in February, Kelis asked for more child support from the rapper. One month later, they reached a joint custody agreement and all seemed well between the former power couple. But a few weeks after that Nas filed paperwork claiming she broke their custody agreement. Kelis has since revealed disturbing abuse allegations against the rapper, which he has since denied.
