Following Jay Rock’s performance at Made in America Festival in Philadelphia over Labor Day Weekend, and the release of his third studio album Redemption in June, Jay appeared on Tim Westwood’s Capital XTRA show to spit a verse over the beat for Migos’ “Hot Summer.”
Like many of the lyrics on Redemption, Jay oscillates between braggadocios lines, where he flaunts his materialistic possessions, and deep-seated lines on slavery, culture, and politics. Above all, the freestyle shows just how mighty Jay’s pen is.
Last week, Jay and Rich the Kid connected for the remix of Jay’s Redemption cut “Rotation 112th,” where Rich assists the song with a brash verse about women, money, and his status in the rap game.
In support of Redemption, Jay’s Big Redemption Tour starts on Sept. 10 in Nashville, and will wrap up Oct. 29 in Los Angeles.
