Having launched Stateside earlier this year, Spotify UK have announced plans to bring the Sound Up Bootcamp to London in November. Targeting "aspiring podcasters in the UK who identify as a woman of colour", on offer will be a week-long residential workshop in London. Led by industry experts, podcasters will learn the craft of podcasting, finding their narrative voice, and valuable mentorship.

Last year, The Economist revealed women host just 13% of top podcasts, curtailed by the fact that many of them are among the highest rated and ranked; highlighting the obvious issue being access, and not just quality.

James Cator, Head of Podcast Partnerships, EMEA, for Spotify, said: "The UK is a leading light in the world of podcasts, so we're expecting to see a similarly enthusiastic response from ambitious podcast creators in the UK."

Applicants should visit bit.ly/soundupuk and give a brief outline of their podcast idea. Applicants will be reviewed by Spotify's in-house podcast team, finding an eventual ten final attendees to attend the Sound Up Bootcamp.

All applications are due by midnight on Aug. 31, 2018.
