Quadie Diesel's brand of rap is sinister and bass-heavy, and his odd take on language sets him apart.

Quadie Diesel

Quadie Diesel is stretching the English language into strange new territory. Like Gucci Mane, Z-Money, Valee, and other oddball street heroes of the modern hip-hop world, the New Jersey-born, Delaware-based rapper has a way with words that is as strange as it is intriguing. His beat selection ranges from dark and heavy to darker and heavier, but the sentences he strings together really set the scene, lacing braggadocio with undertones of paranoia and extreme apathy.

There's a confidence in Quadie's delivery that feels too genuine to be dismissed as weird for the sake of weird, and his email responses to a few questions we sent over are pretty much what you'd expect after hearing some of the music. "I really can't stand humans," Quadie writes. "But I love everybody… but I really hate y'all."

Quadie admits that he doesn't understand the music industry yet and that he mostly keeps to himself, and that might be what relegates him to local legend as opposed to rap's next superstar. Then again, while so many of the most popular rising rappers right now are going out of their way to prove their eccentricity, Quadie Diesel seems to be a natural.
