British rapper J Hus has been apprehended and charged with carrying a knife, according to The Guardian.

The police stopped the 23-year-old’s vehicle near a shopping center in east London on Thursday, and J Hus was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife or bladed article. J Hus, whose real name is Momodou Jallow, was later denied bail in court on Friday and will stay in custody until his trial on July 20.

“Officers in a marked police car stopped a vehicle in International Way E20, at about 12.35pm on Thursday 21 June,” a Metropolitan police spokesperson said. “The occupants of the vehicle were searched and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a knife/bladed article,” per The Guardian.

J Hus is a Mercury Prize-nominated MC, has been nominated for three Brit Awards last year, and has won a Mobo award. He’s due to perform at a number of shows and festivals this summer, including London’s Wireless Festival on July 7 but is unclear if he will still attend his summer shows.
