Rising UK artist Tom Tripp has come through with a new record called “Medusa,” off his upcoming sophomore project BLACK.

The song is a deceptively emotional track, as it tells the story of a tumultuous, heartbreaking relationship over an infectious, glossy beat.

“I can't go into too many details as the stories in my songs involve real people but I wrote and produced ‘Medusa’ at a low moment,” Tripp told Complex via email. “I'd come to the end of a very intense relationship but I was still very much attached to and controlled by the person. I was getting frequent memory waves of all the negative points of the relationship that would involuntary come out of me whenever I started recording. It was a painful time but this song—like a lot of my songs—came out of that confusion and that's a good thing. Pain is my best inspiration.”

“Medusa” arrives one nearly one month after Tripp released “Loving You More.”
