T.I. had some more thoughts to share about the recent controversy surrounding Kanye West and how it all ties into the genesis of his feature on "Ye vs. the People". Stopping by The Breakfast Club Wednesday morning, the rapper sat down with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God and, around the 8-minute mark, explained how the song came together after a "four-hour long conversation."

"We exchanged numbers and that night after I left him I started seeing the stuff," he said, referencing West's initial tweets in late April. "This was right around the time that John Legend hit him and I'm like hey what's going on bro? I didn't want to say anything over the phone since I had the opportunity to go see him." After a tour of West's home, Tip then said he pulled the Chicago native aside and asked the hard questions that would kick off the hours-long discussion.

"I said what's up with the hat, bro? And he like 'Man, my subconscious spoke to conscience and it just moved me to wear the hat,'" at which point Tip says he asked West if he knew what the hat represented. "He was like 'not when I wear it, though....just like we did the word nigga, we took the power from the word and now we use the word as our own.' I was like, yeah that's not the same."

Tip said he's convinced that West's "love" of Donald Trump is much less about his beliefs and policies and more about him as a brand. "He doesn't think of [Donald Trump] as a person, he's thinking of the thing, whatever that force is." Tip says West, who he referred to as "our Michael Jackson," says he doesn't agree with everything Trump says, but when asked what aspects of Trump he does agree with, he revealed that he has no real knowledge of Trump's policies at all. "He loves the thought of [Trump]....he defied all odds...and in his mind, that's how it is. He don't know the things we know because he has removed himself from society to the point that it don't reach him. He just started watching CNN," Tip explained. "I said 'so how you feel about the travel ban?' He said 'what's the travel ban?'"

Despite Tip's assertion that West had never heard of the infamous travel ban, we should note that after Trump enacted the ban last year, West's pro-Trump tweets disappeared from his feed. At the time, TMZ reported that the purge was a direction reaction to Trump's targeting of seven Muslim-majority countries.
