Back in March, mysterious R&B outfit The Diamonds Are Black released their head-turning single "Hit & Run", quickly racking up a more than respectable amount of attention among fans and critics alike. Now they're back, no less mysterious, but with a brand new track ready to unleash: "Velvet".
Like the extremely rare and valuable black diamonds that lend the group their name, the new single also lives up to its name. A mixture of maximalist pop, high-end funk and luxurious R&B, "Velvet" is probably best suited to home listening, where you can devote your full attention to the rich, layered production, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't absolutely kill on the dancefloor.
