Nick Cannon Goes "Diggin' in the Crates" With Peter Rosenberg on 'Open Late'

Nick Cannon lets Rosenberg know why his father set his copy of Snoop Dogg's 'Doggystyle' on fire.

Every week on Open Late With Peter Rosenberg, Rosenberg gets to put his DJ sh*t on blast with "Diggin' in the Crates," a segment in which he chops it up with guests about some of the records sitting in his DJ crate that they might relate to. On our most recent episode, Rosenberg had multi-hyphenate Nick Cannon in the studio, so you already know what time it was.

For those who were unaware, Nick Cannon used to carry crates for about three years, so he knows about the art of lugging records around. After sharing memories on his early days as a DJ (including what the legend Biz Markie taught him), he dives into what he calls "one of the greatest albums ever to come out," Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle. He shared the story of how his father, who was a preacher, would say that Snoop's debut was "of the devil," and he actually lit the cassette on fire "to show me how much of a devil it was." His pops definitely wasn't rocking with the classic Death Row material.

Cannon also had some big facts for James Brown's classic "The Big Payback." If you aren't up on classic breakbeats, peep James Brown's material. And the haircut on the cover of The Payback.

Check out the full segment with Nick up above, and be sure to see who's next on Open Late With Peter Rosenberg, which airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Youtube.com/Complex.
