Juelz Santana Says He's Working on New Music While Under House Arrest

Santana: "I’m in the house all day so it’s the best time to do that right now."

Despite his ongoing legal battle, Juelz Santana is in full work mode.

According to USA Today, the 36-year-old says he’s focusing on new music while he remains under house arrest on weapons-related charges.

“I’m in the house all day so it’s the best time to do that right now,” he said.

Santana was arrested back in March after TSA agents discovered a loaded firearm and eight oxycodone pills inside his carry-on luggage at Newark Liberty International Airport. Santana fled the scene immediately after authorities found the contraband; however, he turned himself in several days later and was ultimately charged with two felonies: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as carrying a weapon on an aircraft. Each of those counts carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.

On Thursday, Santana’s attorney Brian Nearly pleaded not guilty to the weapons-related charges on the rapper’s behalf. The Diplomats MC is now confined to his mother’s home in New Jersey as he awaits the court’s ruling.

“I’m not a bad guy,” the rapper told USA Today Network. “Family man, just praying for the best outcome, you know what I mean? Put it in God’s hands at the end of the day.”

Less than two weeks ago, Santana's legal team submitted a motion seeking to take the rapper off of house arrest, stating he needed to travel in order to provide for his family; however, his attorneys later rescinded the request.
