One of the sneaky highlights on Cozz's Effected project was an introspective, Garren-assisted song called "Bout It." Over laid back production from Meez, the Dreamville artist raps about the realities of navigating newfound success and dealing with evolving relationship dynamics.
Today, the song gets a Darius Turbak-directed music video that finds Cozz on the set of a late-night talk show. Opting to perform "Bout It" instead of a "mainstream single," he takes control of his own trajectory as TV executives look on in confusion.
In February, he spoke about the song with Billboard and explained, "At the time, I was dealing with a lot of people who was on some weird shit. This song happened naturally when I heard the beat. The melody and the hook popped in my head and I was like, 'Let me try it.' I’m very hard on myself, so at first, I was like, 'Eh, I don’t know. Maybe it’s dope.' The more I played it for people, they were like, 'This shit is hard as fuck! You trippin.'"
