Ariana Grande Reveals Mac Miller Relationship Grew 'Toxic' and 'Scary

The singer responded to a man online claiming she shouldn't have "dumped" Miller.

Earlier this month, Ariana Grande confirmed that she and longtime boyfriend Mac Miller had parted ways. The breakup, while heartbreaking for fans of the celebrity couple, seemed amicable. Grande shared the news in her Instagram story calling Miller her best friend and adding that she "respect[s] and adore[s] him endlessly."

But this seemingly drama-free split didn’t satisfy everyone. One man on Twitter decided to criticize Grande for “dumping” Miller and blamed her for the rapper's recent car accident and DUI. The man dubbed the breakup “the most heartbreaking thing happening in Hollywood.”

Grande fired Wednesday back with a long message that reveals some startling details about the nature of her and the Miller’s relationship behind the scenes. In her response, Grande criticizes the user for trying to “minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship.”

She went on to talk about her attempts to help Miller through his sobriety, writing “blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his shit together is a major problem.” Also: "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be."

These statements contradict earlier reports that it was the couple’s hectic work schedules that led to them calling it quits. “i didn’t share how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was,” she continued. “i will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out.”

Miller has yet to respond to Grande’s comments. The couple began dating back in 2016, and collaborated together on a number of projects including the Divine Feminine single "My Favorite Part.”

Grande’s next album, Sweetener, is due sometime later this year. She's reportedly started dating SNL comedian Pete Davidson.
