Lil Pump to J. Cole: 'Thank You for All the Clout'

Lil Pump seems unbothered following J. Cole's subliminal shots at him on 'KOD.'

One of the first headlines to emerge from J. Cole's new album, KOD, was an apparent Lil Pump diss in the project's final song, "1985 (Intro to 'The Fall Off')." While Cole didn't explicitly say Pump's name in the song—and seemed to be referring to the new generation of rappers as a whole—many fans perceived portions of the song as direct references to Pump.

Specifically, fans saw Cole's lyrics as a response to Lil Pump and Smokepurpp's old habit of yelling "Fuck J. Cole," as well as Pump's song of the same name.

The 17-year-old rapper appears unbothered by the whole situation. Understanding that any attention is good attention in 2018 rap, Lil Pump uploaded a short video to his Instagram story on Tuesday and said, "Cole, thank you for the clout. Appreciate it." Then he took a giant bite out of the crunchiest bread of all time.

This follows Pump's initial response to Cole shortly after the album dropped, in which he sarcastically said into his phone: ""Wow, you get so much props, you dissed a 17-year-old."

Knowing his lane as an energetic young rapper who prefers style over lyrical substance, Pump added, "I ain't worried about none of you old heads. I ain't want none of that lyrical shit, I just be having fun with what I do."

His strategy seems to be working. Lil Pump's new song "ESSKEETIT" debuted inside the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

The single's accompanying music video already has nearly 70 million views, less than two weeks after its release. It's also the number one music video on YouTube at the moment. ESSKEEEEETIT.
