Chance the Rapper Says Kanye Is the 'Same Ye From the VMAs, Same Ye From the Telethon'

Chance also reminded his followers that "black people don't have to be democrats."

Despite what many may think given his recent Twitter activity, Kanye West is doing just fine, according to his friend and collaborator Chance the Rapper.

On Wednesday, radio personality Ebro Darden sent out a tweet asking if Kanye has talked to any of his fellow Chicago artist like Common, G Herbo, Lil, Durk, or Chance. The latter responded to the post shortly after, insisting he spoke to 'Ye earlier this week and that G.O.O.D. Music boss was “in a great space.”

I wonder if @kanyewest has caught up with @chancetherapper @gherbo @lildurk on his hometown of Chicago??@kanyewest have you talked to @common ?

On a larger scale have you connected with @Akon in Africa?

“[He’s] not affected by folk tryna question his mental or physical health,” Chano tweeted. “Same Ye from the VMAs, same Ye from the telethon.” Chance was referring to Kanye's interruption of Taylor Swift's 2009 VMA acceptance speech, as well as his “George Bush doesn't care about black people” comment during a 2005 telethon for Hurricane Katrina relief.

Talked to him two days ago. He’s in a great space and not affected by folk tryna question his mental or physical health. Same Ye from the Vmas, same Ye from the telethon. https://t.co/2zY3KpllV2

In the past several days, many fans have raised concerns over Kanye’s mental health after he has posted a series of controversial tweets that appear to support Donald Trump. Chance later told his followers that the concerns were unwarranted, and reminded them “black people don’t’ have to be democrats.” He also declared that the next U.S. president would be an independent.

It’s always incredible to watch a cultural shift happen in real time. I respect those willing to take the lead breaking with convention. That takes guts... though there’s a better word for it. 🏀🏀 https://t.co/01jMdg6ETa

Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., responded to Chance's tweet about blacks and the Democratic party. He was, of course, very pleased:
