Shortly after his release, YoungBoy took to social media with a video in which he said, “Only thing they got to do is free Kodak now.”

The 18-year-old was arrested last month in Tallahassee, Florida, and was eventually extradited to Georgia to face charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping. As previously reported, the charges stem from an alleged altercation between YoungBoy and his girlfriend, Jania Jackson. Surveillance cameras at a Georgia hotel captured the rapper slamming Jackson to the ground inside a hallway before dragging her back into his room.

Jackson has continued to deny that YoungBoy assaulted her, and insisted the incident was not that serious.

“I was pulling him. That’s just us. That’s how we like to play,” she said on Periscope after YoungBoy’s arrest. “Kidnapped? Fuck no. Nobody getting kidnapped. Has he ever put his hands on me? Fuck no. Do we play a lot? Fuck yeah. We’re 18. What do y’all expect?”

Weeks after his February arrest, Georgia prosecutors asked for the rapper’s probation to be revoked and requested an immediate 10-year prison sentence for his role in a 2016 drive-by shooting. In May 2017, YoungBoy dodged initial charges of attempted first-degree murder by pleading guilty to a lesser count of aggravated assault with a firearm. He was later handed a suspended 10-year prison sentence and three years probation.
