MORTEN has made a name for himself over the last decade with festival-ready electronic dance hits, but the Danish DJ and producer shows his range on "Family," a new single featuring Dave East.

Opening with an old soul sample, the production gives Dave East's relentless flow some room to breathe with sparse—but powerful—electronic production. As programmed drums rumble in the background, the East Harlem rapper growls: "I been looking for a whole thing/I'm 2Pac without the nose ring/I'm B.I.G. if he was skinny n***a/Backwoods smokin' Henny sippa."

“I am a big fan of Dave and excited for the fans to hear our music," MORTEN told Complex of the collab. "He stands out and does his own thing so perfectly and it shows on the record. I could not be happier about the outcome."

MORTEN cut his teeth on the electronic dance circuit, but his hip-hop ties run deep—which has a lot to do with "Family" sounding more relaxed and natural than most electronic/hip-hop crossover collaborations. "I have always been listening to hip-hop and rap and I really love 2Pac and Bob Marley," he explained in an interview with Naluda. "House music was something that got under my skin as I got older."
