There are a lot of things going quite wrong this year, but at least we'll be getting a ton of new music from Swae Lee.
As Lil Wayne fansite LilWayneHQpointed out Wednesday, a previously teased new Weezy cut will also feature contributions from Swae. The track was first previewed by DJ Stevie J at LIV in Miami earlier this month. At the time, there was no mention of the Rae Sremmurd flourishes in the then-untitled track. Stevie, who previously collaborated with Weezy on last year's "YFS," has since revealed the track is titled "Imagine."
It's not currently clear where this collab will end up, but both Weezy and Swae have upcoming projects that could end up claiming it.
Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi dropped the video for their Juicy J–featuring single "Powerglide" this week. The track is one of three singles the duo released simultaneously at the top of the month, all taken from their upcoming SremmLife 2 sequel. Unlike previous SremmLife entries, the three-part SR3MM will take a cue from OutKast's 2003 classic Speakerboxxx/The Love Below by giving fans a solo album from both Swae and Slim:
If news like that doesn't excite you, then I'm not sure what to say.
Wayne, meanwhile, is once again expected to drop the repeatedly delayed Carter V at some point in the near-ish future. At least, that's what Birdman is saying. "You will get [the album] this year," he told Rap-Up in February. "It's gonna be well worth the wait."
