Rumors circulating earlier this month that Russell Simmons went to Bali fleeing sexual assault allegations turned out to be true. The entertainment mogul confirmed via Instagram that he is in Bali and “temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance.”

In the fall, more than a dozen women accused Simmons of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to assault and rape, including Insecure actress Amanda Seales and fashion publicist/TV personality Kelly Cutrone. Simmons is currently being investigated by the NYPD for two of the claims and is also being sued for $5 million.

In November, Simmons stepped down as the head of his businesses, while denying the accusations. "I have re-dedicated myself to spiritual learning, healing and working on behalf of the communities to which I have devoted my life," he wrote in a statement at the time. "What I will not accept is responsibility for what I have not done. I have conducted my life with a message of peace and love."

Last month Simmons’ ex-wife Kimora Lee spoke about the allegations for the first time, while Oprah removed Simmons from her book The Wisdom of Sundays.
